‘For if, by the trespass of the one man, death
reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s
abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life
through the one man, Jesus Christ’ (Rom. 5:17)
It is God’s purpose that as his children we
grow into the maturity of faith, that ‘we
reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and became
mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ’ (Eph. 4:13).
The Holy Spirit was sent in order to bring
into being this new person who, by attaining the whole measure of the fullness
of Christ, can reign in life by faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. To reign in life is a glorious thing to experience.
We who were slaves of sin can now reign
through God’s abundant provision of grace.
We reign in life through the knowledge that we are righteous in the sight
of God, having been declared righteous. As
righteous children of God, we have been given the power and authority to reign
in life through the abundant, unmerited grace of God. Reigning in life begins with Christ reigning
in us. He reigns in us through his word,
which is revealed by the Spirit of wisdom, knowledge and revelation, and which
produces the transformation of our mind and heart. By coming to think in alignment with
God’s word we take our place with Christ, and by the guidance and power of the
Holy Spirit we come to reign in life. If,
however, we do not think in alignment with God’s word, then we will be incapable
of taking our place of victory and of operating from that place.
When we have been filled with the Holy
Spirit and are endued with power from on high, and when we have come into
agreement with God’s will and consented to it, then we are ready to reign and
rule in life. We are ready to step into
the manifestation of the victory of Christ over sin, sickness, lack and all the
power of the enemy, as well as to step into the abundant life that Jesus has
prepared for us.
